Kitchen Sink Drama

Day 1: Amy Hirst & Damian Clark

Gurgles, grinding, sloshes and squeezes
The dying wheezy last breath of the washing up bottle….
The eerie gong of the bowl of water chimed out to mark its demise!

And so we began to imagine and explore a new world through everyday sounds.

Its great fun – though be careful not to laugh at the end of the recording…( the having to be completely silent whist making strange noises in someone else’s kitchen does bring on a little bit of giddiness!). Its amazing how once abstracted from their original environment the sounds take on a life of their own – add a bit of imagination and the grinding pepper mill becomes a man digging a through hard stony ground ….

I love the beginning of projects like this where you just don’t know where the story will take you.

Lost and Found

Damian Clark and Amy Hirst

In this project we have chosen to focus on two elements of our individual creative practices –

Amy Hirst – Story Telling and Damian Clark - Sound Design

We came to the decision that as we share certain similarities in our practices, especially through the process of discovery and exploration (in which the outcome is never predetermined), that we’ll be collaborating together on a multi-disciplined piece.  Our idea is that as we learn about each others practices, our creations of the day will go on to shape the next stage the process.

This is a process of evolution!

.......what will we come up with?

SPRING...work in progress

Black Orchard & Jane Platts collaboration for the Pass the Process project....

I spent a few hours today making a start on our piece of art...working with one of my favourite metals, copper.

The piece will evolve as we progress so all images will be 'teasers' until it's finished so we don't give the game away!

A model box...

Helaina Sharpley and Karen Stansfield:
After discussing the project and our practices, we decided to collaborate on the creation of a model box (a scaled model of a theatre stage.)  This will combine our skills; Karen's, theatre and TV, set and costume design background, and Helaina's general craftiness, specialising in wirework and drawing.
The theatre we've chosen to use is the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield and we hope to bring to life, on this stage,
'It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold:  when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.'  Charles Dickens, Great Expectations.
Making the scenery will use both our skills in both designing and creating, using various techniques and mixed media.

ideas are blosoming

Collaboration between Carrie Scott-Huby Artist and Dawn Robinson Photographer.

Carrie and Dawn have reached the same initiative to have a common theme working between both explorations of learning and advancing each others techniques and processes.

The image below is a flavour of the theme.

Spring into action

Black Orchard Photography and Jane Platts

We had a VERY productive first meeting about the Pass The Process project and have finalised the plans for our interpretation of the brief.

Expect a combination of metal, ceramics, fabrics and glass...photos will of course follow as we start the process!

Andrew Warburton & Pam Lonsdale

These are just some initial ideas that I have put together for my Pass The Process collaboration with Pam Lonsdale jeweller extraordinaire. I’m not going to explain what it is yet as it may all change. I’m just having a great time putting the ideas together.

Come back later and let me know if you can tell what it is yet?

The First PASS THE PROCESS Meeting

A few of the participating members from Pass The Process (PTP) who got together for the first meeting for PTP at the West Yorkshire Print Workshops canteen. You can probably tell by the number of layers that everyone was wearing that it was cold.

This was an initial meeting to get the blogspot up and running and to pass on the how simple it is to publish a blogspot. Well that was the theory anyway..........
